Stage Challenge Update

Second to last day of school and we're more excited than ever about next year. We've finished interviewing for jobs and all the positions are filled. We just need to tell the backstage hands tomorrow!

We've done really well this term - finished choreographing all the dances except the boys hip hop dance (teaching Ms J-V hip hop was interested - just as well Livi knows what she's doing!). All the costumes are desgined and we've worked out where we're going to get them all from and which ones we are going to make.

The teachers in charge of different parts have all been organised. In the Performance Team we have Ms J-V as director and teacher in charge of the dancing, and Whaea Lena looking after the drama. In the Design Team we have Mr Mac looking after the set design and construction and Mrs H looking after the lighting design. In the Backstage Team Mr Simmonds is heading up backstage and Miss Fitzgibbons and Miss Mckenzie are looking after costumes and hair/make up. And Mrs Lowe is heading up the Fundraising Team.

What is Stage Challenge?

Stage Challenge is one of the most awesome things you can do at NIS! It's an epic dance, drama and design performance.

It takes us 6 months of planning, 4 months of rehearsals for one big performance in Term Two! The day is amazing, seeing all the Colleges perform.

Stage Challenge Update

Time for our first update!

Right now we are starting to plan and choreograph our Stage Challenge performance. Our draft title for the performance is "It's how you dance" and the theme is social pressure. Our story follows two young dancers as they prepare for an audition. Along the way they have their ups and downs and we see how they overcome these obstacles and ultimately succeed.

We're already choreographed a few of the dances, and designed all of the costumes! We're currently interviewing students for set design, backstage and hair and makeup.
